The Mummy’s Tomb
A mad-cap musical adventure!
As Halloween looms, a ghostly bandaged figure lurks in the shadows at the Queen’s as The Mummy’s Tomb casts its spooky spell over the Theatre from 31 October – 22 November.
The Mummy’s Tomb, written by Ken Hill, features members of cut to the chase… the UK’s only resident ensemble of actor-musicians.
The time is 1920s Britain. Professor Niven, accompanied by his beautiful daughter Nancy and an unlikely bunch of bumbling explorers, embark on an Egyptian adventure in search of the legendary Mummy’s Tomb. They travel up the Nile, past the pyramids and deep into the desert – with plenty of laughs and a sing-song on the way.
But watch out Professor. Just when you think you’ve got the mystery of the Mummy all wrapped up, there’s another spooky surprise lurking round the corner!
The Mummy’s Tomb is directed by Queen’s Theatre Associate Director Matt Devitt and stars cut to the chase… company members Paul Leonard as Professor Niven (Paul starred as the hilarious Malvolio in Twelfth Night in the Spring) and Michelle Long as Nancy (Michelle played Sorel Bliss in Hay Fever), with other roles played by Lindsay Ashworth, Oliver Beamish, Shaun Hennessy, Simon Jessop, Sam Kordbacheh, Laura Penneycard, Claire Storey and Marcus Webb (last seen at the Queen’s playing Lord Keston in Around the World in 80 Days).
Set design is by Rodney Ford, musical direction by Julian Littman, lighting design by Richard Godin, sound design by Nik Dudley and choreography by Cara Elston. Julian’s impressive song-writing credits include melodies for the likes of Sheena Easton and Sister Sledge and he has also worked on the West End’s We Will Rock You.
The Mummy’s Tomb has giggles galore and is bursting with plenty of catchy songs – a mad-cap musical adventure that will leave you screaming “I want my Mummy!”
The Mummy’s Tomb will be playing at the Queen’s Theatre, Billet Lane, Hornchurch from 31 October – 22 November. Tickets cost between £13.50 - £22 and are available from the Box Office on 01708 443333. For more information about the Queen’s Theatre and these events, visit www.queens-theatre.co.uk
