Songs and stories will be the order of the night when award-winning comedian and singer Richard Digance performs at the Queen’s Theatre, Hornchurch on Monday 17 November at 7.30pm.
One of the UK’s most successful comedy folk entertainers of the 1970s, Richard Digance promises a unique and colourful set packed full of melodies, rhymes and amusing showbiz anecdotes.
Armed with his trusty guitar and sharp wit, Richard will deliver a host of favourite folk tunes and
plenty of funny tales, collected through 30 years in the entertainment industry. He started out as a BBC comedy writer and went on to support some of the world’s funniest people including
Steve Martin in the USA and Robin Williams at the London Palladium. His natural warmth and charm has seen him easily engage with any crowd – from an audience of eight in the Falklands to half a million revellers at Knebworth.
His success has been duly rewarded with a prestigious BAFTA nomination as a television entertainer, a Gold Award from the British Academy of Songwriters, a SONY Radio Award and a place amongst The Magnificent Seven of Comedy alongside Tommy Cooper and Bob Monkhouse in a list compiled by The Sunday People.
A skilled wordsmith, Richard is probably best known to younger audiences for his regular TV appearances on Countdown’s Dictionary Corner. He has also penned several books, plays and film scripts.
