  Havering Folk Club has a new home

The Havering Folk Club are moving to The Golden Lion, High Street, Romford, as of this week.

Launch night is on Wednesday 5th March and co-promoter Peter Walters is looking forward to many a good night at The Lion;

'The Havering Folk Club was established in September 2006 and has run continually since then. It's basically a performer's club; anyone is welcome to come along to sing, play an instrument or recite poetry. Some just come to listen. We have members of varying standards from beginners and amateurs to semi-professionals. There is a warm, welcoming atmosphere and new or nervous performers are given every encouragement; if they "muck it up" we will only ever laugh with them, not at them.

Although it is called a folk club, we have an eclectic mix of styles from traditional and modern folk, country & western, blues, comedy and light classics. Our singer/songwriters are superb.'

To get them off to a good start at the new venue, songwriter Trevor Barham will have his featured evening and he will be launching his new CD Easy Street, which contains the song The Sun Shines Over Romford.

Entry is £5 for guest evenings and just £1 for all other evenings.
