Cockney Ding Dong

Come and ‘ave a butchers at the Cockney Ding Dong, which will fill the Queen’s Theatre Foyer with laughs and good old-fashioned entertainment on Tuesday 23 September at 8pm.

The show’s charismatic compère Dale Warren presents a night full of songs, jokes and plenty of Pearlies with top variety acts from Mickie Driver, Gloria Kaye, Johnny Maxim and David Carter.

Dale Warren promises to impress with his uncanny impressions of stage and screen stars from the 1940s through to the 1980s. Dale has been involved in entertainment all his life – not only was he born in a theatre, his parents were both variety performers! One of the highlights of his long career is working with comedienne and TV star Hylda Baker.

Keeping the audiences in stitches with non-stop gags will be hilarious Pearly entertainer Mickie Driver. Mickie, known for his warm and spirited stage presence, will chat about London in the old days and belt out several nostalgic Music Hall melodies.   With over 30 years’ experience, he has worked all over the country and recently performed at the Buckingham Palace Garden Party and at last year’s Christmas Party at St James’ Palace.

Also taking you back through the years will be Gloria Kaye, who will fill the stage with well-loved Cockney songs. Gloria started as a teenage pantomime dancer and has led a colourful career over the decades - she has performed in various variety theatres, worked with Opportunity Knock’s Hughie Green and even sang in the famous Queen Vic pub on an EastEnders Christmas Special!

Essex boy Johnny Maxim will get feet tapping along to his energetic harmonica playing.  This sprightly 81-year-old, who hails from Rayleigh, has been a musician and entertainer for over 50 years and played all the major theatres across the country. He set up The Musical Maxims with his wife, son and daughter and regularly plays the harmonica and saxophone with several big bands.

Accompanying acts on the keyboard will be musical director David Carter, who worked for iconic drag queen Danny La Rue for 20 years and is now working with comedian Ken Dodd.

Mickie said: “Cockney Ding Dong is entertainment the old-fashioned way and is a show the whole family can enjoy.”

Cockney Ding Dong comes to the Queen’s Theatre Foyer on Tuesday 23 September at 8pm. Tickets are just £8.50 and available by calling the Box Office on 01708 443333. For further information about the Queen’s, visit www.queens-theatre.co.uk
